Food Storage is Critical

If you have been following the discussions on the Preparedness Podcast, you know that one of the main focuses of the show has been working on your preparedness plan. We’ve also been harping on the fact that there isn’t a lot of time to get ready. There are many crises currently facing us today and we simply don’t have the luxury of time on our side.

Case in point is this story: Walker’s World: New food crisis looms.  The first two paragraphs sums it up:

“We tend to forget that the worldwide plunge into recession last year was the result of three separate phenomena that combined to breed disaster. The financial crisis was joined by a food crisis and a fuel crisis as the prices of food and energy soared, triggering food riots across the world.

And now there are ominous signs of another food crisis in the making this year, spurred in part by the ongoing credit crunch that has made it difficult for farmers to get loans.”

While I don’t see major food shortages in this  country, food storage is still critical to survival. There can be localized short term shortages and there may be shortages of certain food items. One thing that I think we’ll definitely see is an increase in food prices.  When you look at the economic problems that we have coming and add to that a world-wide food shortage, we can see that even though food prices have been rising, they are still relatively cheap – especially the bulk food. Stock up while you can.

People Don’t Want More Gun Control

There have been countless studies, reports and findings that have repeatedly shown that guns are not as dangerous as ‘they’ would have us believe. That having a gun in your home is not more likely to get your family killed, but actually makes you safer. Concealed Carry laws really do make a state or city safer. This is common sense and real people understand this.

Now it seems, the American people are becoming even more aware of what the Second Amendment is really all about. Though it may be too late. Check out this article on CNN:

Poll: Fewer Americans support stricter gun control laws

“…only 39 percent of Americans now favor stricter gun laws…” Wow! That’s remarkable – 61% of Americans don’t want more gun laws.

I also find it interesting that this is very close to the percentage of the number of people who are in favor of *real* socialism in this country – 40%.  It’s a guess on my part, but it seems to make sense.

Anyway, the point here is that people are starting to wake up and realize what’s going on around them.

Things might not be too late after all.

No Podcast This Week

Apologies from all of us, but there will be no podcast for this week.

This past Sunday, when we normally record the podcast, we were all camping in the desert. We do this a couple times a year to get together for some face to face time and to do some training. We attempted to record earlier this week, but we were all playing ‘catch up’ from the weekend with work and never got to record it.

If you remember the podcast about ‘networking,’ we stress that it’s important for you to find people that share your beliefs, and coalesce with the ones that you can trust.  That’s exactly what we did, and even though we don’t live all that close to each other, we make it a point to get together several times a year. This past weekend was one of our “pow wows.”

And, boy, was it fun! Three days camping and shooting targets in the desert with some great friends can do a lot to boost morale.

We were going to record a podcast from on location, but it was so windy that about the only thing that you would have heard would have been wind noises in the microphone.

America Better for Having Guns?

I came accross and intersting article from the BBC of all places.  In the article, the author writes that despite have over 200 million guns, America is better off.  He eloborates that, “there is a certain tranquility and civility about American life.”  If you read the article critically, you’ll notice how he seems a little surpised at that fact.  Further attention will also show how people are manipulated to feel and believe things the way we’re meant to.  Yes I’m talking about the media.  Read the article.  What do you think?

Now you may think, oh, that’s for the people who have no electricity – but not at all! There is a new switch on the rice cooker, made from wood – and a fan installed in the bottom! When you put a piece of burning wood from the normal fire (next to the rice cooker) into the hole, and fill it up with charcoal, and switch “ON” , it takes about 20 seconds to have a perfect fire… really amazing. They call this thing “pressure cooker”.

US recession ‘may last into 2010′ – US Federal Reserve chief Ben Bernanke has warned Congress that without the right policies from the government, the US recession could last into 2010.  (Ed. ‘Shovels hit the ground’ on stimulus project, Obama says – President Obama said Tuesday that the country already is “seeing shovels hit the ground” on the first infrastructure repair project funded through the Transportation Department’s share of the $787 billion stimulus bill.  He said the project will support 60 jobs. “And that’s how we’re going to get the country back on its feet,” LaHood added. (Ed. Note – $787 BILLION and all we can see to do is create 60 jobs?  El Presidente has just redefined inept. We’re going to need those shovels for shoveling something else.)
